So I wanted to finish the bracelet and the headband today.
Unfortunately, the feathers are proving a little more fractious than I anticipated... I can't seem to get them to stay flat, or rather they're too flat -to the point if dicing straight out when I need then to curve around the bracelet into a nice, tame cuff of eyes.
I also need to scrounge up the black it dark brown head band that would camouflage into my girls' hair better than the reddish tortoise shell one that I currently an using for my prototype.
I also have decided feathers never again as all the little hairs and now all over, despite a good sweeping.

Bracelet idea
Something I found and want to try to recreate.
Got a bracelet at Kohls (thanks Dad for those $10 coupons) for $0.04.
Got the feathers from my 400 pack.
The problem I'm having is that peacock feathers aren't as small as these other feathers...so only two or three fit, but even then it's overlapping or haning off the sides. I'm not sure how it will look or if the feathers will fall nicely... I'm going to try to get it done this weekend.
PS Just read somewhere that brides are moving away from the matchy-matchy jewelry/accessories for their bridesmaids. Look at us on the cutting edge of all things wedding... ;)

Flower Update
Dropped by Redlands Tennessee Florist after school today. I needed to add 8 mixed flower arrangements and a wreath for the flower girls' hair.
When I first drove up, all the lights were off and the door was closed. The same thing happened last week when I tried to go by, so I thought she was closed again! But then I called, and she was there. While looking up the phone number, I also saw that they had recently won an award for #1 florist based on votes in an IE publication. Reading the reviews (after almost having a heart attack when I saw there was a 1 star...because we had gone with this florist because we had seen some of her work and she was associated with the venue and the price was right, but then saw that there was only one review that was negative that had been reposted several times at different sites), over and over it was repeated that Sandie had great customer service and really knew her flowers. This proved to be true especially on this visit. After talking about gardening and cooking and all kinds of other unrelated topics (as it has happened several times before when I've gone by), we got down to business and changed things up.
Primarily, we switched some flowers around. We ditched the blue and purple dendrobium orchids. Instead we're going with the blue-purple delphiniums. So, now our bouquets are going to be: purple lisianthus, blue/purple delphiniums, white hydrangea, white dendrobium orchids, and lavender tipped white hydrangea in my bouquet. The boys will have white dendrobium orchids with a peacock feather in their boutonnieres. We're also adding peacock feathers to the mixed flower arrangements, the bouquets around the dance floor, and the altar arrangements. I was pretty excited by the time I left Sandie's.
Yay for bringing in peacock feathers and for Sandie's enthusiasm, which makes me feel more confident in my choices. :)

Chinese Peacock Feathers
My parents are probably going to protest vehemently, but I bought peacock feathers from Hong Kong...even though I am jeopardizing the fate of the US economy... :-P
I should be getting it in mid to late April. Then the fun begins...

To Friar Tux We Go...
Eddie and I detoured to the mall post-GSOE reception, but pre-dinner, our destination: Friar Tux. Here are the tuxes that caught his eye... PS the purple and teal are not to be worn together, we were merely trying to see if the purple and teal would clash horribly if the bridesmaids were in one color and the groomsmen in another.
I ready liked the teal for the groomsmen. My concern was that they would clash with the purple bridesmaids. I think it will be ok if I can add teal to the bridesmaids via a sash or wrap and purple to the groomsmen via people flower in the boutinnere.
Something cool was at Friar Tux they had a swatches book from David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo's to match with their swatches. If I absolutely cannot find the fabric in the right teal, I could get something from either David'sBridal or Alfred Angelo.

Graphic Genius
I'm super excited about the invitations!! Uncle Mike has been working on some designs and sent the rough drafts for us to look over yesterday. They look FABULOUS!! I just hope the rest of the invitation lives up to his designs!! Tossing around the idea of a real peacock feather on the invitation...not sure how it would look with the decorative lettering in the front, but getting ideas from Uncle Mike and Pris ee ee. I almost don't even want to post the drafts because I want everyone to be blown away when they see it all put together :)
Wow! My family is so super awesome!

Adding feathers to the bouquets...
Hadn't really found any bouquets with peacock feathers that I liked... Becks posted a link to the site with these pix... Am tempted to incorporate if possible...

Groom's Stuff and Jewelry Ideas
Flowers and such
The thing I like about peacock colors is that there is such a bright, vibrant variety.
Take these cupcakes for example.

Bridesmaids' Gifts

Have an idea of part of the bridesmaid gifts and for my shoes...inspired by this Etsy shop...though I would be more interested in something made closer to home...as in by Pris ee ee. :)
I also plan on including something for blisters if the girls decide on heels!
On a Quest for a Peacock Centerpiece

Wow, these colors can get kind of overwhelming!

My Real Wedding from The Knot and The Nest.
From The Knot:
(Green theme) Reception tables in the center of the room had tiny, glass cube -- centerpieces that were lined with moss and filled with antiqued hydrangeas, green kale, dusty miller, silver brunia berries, purple trachillium, begonia leaves, green hanging amaranthus, seeded eucalyptus, and peacock feathers.
Peacock feathers added color and texture to the white rose arrangements that topped the cocktail tables.

Imelda Marcos, I need your help!
More peacock stuff
Purple and white themed save the date - simple
Eddie likes the white background with purple writing more than the purple background and white writing.
Peacock Style Board: Like the blue straws and purple orchids
Cute peacock invitation (but Eddie doesn't want a peacock on the invite)
Am feeling the feathers in a vase more so than feathers with flowers. Maybe a purple ribbon? And a purple table cloth?
Think purple swirls all around, and probably no peacock feathers on the table.
Blue and purple dendrobium!
