Floral frenzies...

Did you even know there were so many different types of bouquets???

Lisa’s bridal bouquet featured purple lisianthus, lavender and purple calla lilies, blue and green hydrangeas, green spider mums, and hypericum berries. This may be one of my favorite bouquets ever! I’m normally not a huge fan of calla lilies, but the gorgeous purple and white variety shown here really makes the bouquet pop.

Lisa’s bridesmaids carried coordinating bouquets in shades of green and blue with touches of purple.  Flowers included hydrangea, pom flowers, spider mums, and sweet peas. I think these are such sweet and romantic bouquets, and they looked fantastic next to the maid’s purple dresses.  I love how these bouquets coordinate without being too “matchy-matchy.

Lavender Bouquet, Lisianthus and Orchid Bouquet,

Kinda feeling the purple calla lily...

Eddie doesn't like the blue from the first two bouquets, and thinks there's too much green in the last two.  I think the green is okay to balance out the other colors.  I'm not really sure what to do with the blues though...maybe just see if she can add teal ribbon to the bouquets some how?

I need to talk to the florist again...  I think I want the purple calla lily, lisianthus, orchid, peacock feathers, and then to ask the florist how to add the hydrangea or the freesia or whatever other flower she may think fits.  I also want to ask her if she's wrapping the bouquets with ribbon and if so what colors she is using etc.

I also wanted to see if she can incorporate peacock feathers into Eddie's boutonniere and the groomsmen boutonnieres.  I still am feeling the white orchid and the peacock feather behind it...

To Friar Tux We Go...

After Six
Pearl Grey Savoy
$149
for Eddie

After Six
Grey Catalina
$129
for the groomsmen
Eddie and I detoured to the mall post-GSOE reception, but pre-dinner, our destination: Friar Tux. Here are the tuxes that caught his eye... PS the purple and teal are not to be worn together, we were merely trying to see if the purple and teal would clash horribly if the bridesmaids were in one color and the groomsmen in another.

I ready liked the teal for the groomsmen. My concern was that they would clash with the purple bridesmaids. I think it will be ok if I can add teal to the bridesmaids via a sash or wrap and purple to the groomsmen via people flower in the boutinnere.

Something cool was at Friar Tux they had a swatches book from David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo's to match with their swatches. If I absolutely cannot find the fabric in the right teal, I could get something from either David'sBridal or Alfred Angelo.

More peacock stuff

Purple and white themed save the date - simple

Eddie likes the white background with purple writing more than the purple background and white writing.

Peacock Style Board: Like the blue straws and purple orchids

Cute peacock invitation (but Eddie doesn't want a peacock on the invite)

Am feeling the feathers in a vase more so than feathers with flowers. Maybe a purple ribbon? And a purple table cloth?

Think purple swirls all around, and probably no peacock feathers on the table.

Blue and purple dendrobium!

Peacock feathers!!

I'm totally feeling peacock feathers! And wouldn't it go well with our plum?

Peacock feather with purple.

I like how the feathers go with gold.

The problem with peacock feathers in bouquets is that they kind of stick out all crazy.

•DID YOU KNOW?.
•In China, the Peacock represented divinity, rank, power and beauty. It was also reckoned that a woman could get pregnant if a Peacock glanced at her!.
•Older Christian churches believed that the peacock feather represents immortality, resurrection, and a pure soul.
•Peacocks are claimed to be a guardian at the gates of paradise according to one Muslim religion.
•A peacock was often used as a sign for a tailor in the 18th Century. Generally it was someone who dealt in custom fine clothing.
•Peacocks became a favorite bird on the coats of arms of some of the great houses of Europe. During the days of chivalry, to 'swear on the peacock' was considered a solemn oath.
•The Greek goddess Hera was believed to have a chariot pulled by peacocks.
•Peacocks are the national bird of India..
•Peacocks have been domesticated for over 3,000 years!.
•Myth has the peacock representing fidelity, as it dies of grief, or remains single, if it loses its mate.

Dresses and Flowers

So I've been scouring The Knot for purple and white ideas... I prefer purple and white to purple and lavendar. I still haven't really found any bouquets that I really love... I do know that I like a purple boquet for myself with some white, and I like the white bouquet with purple accents for the girls.

I like the color of the dresses here, but would want to flip flop the flowers so I'd have purple and the girls would have more white.

This is a little too bright of a purple dress here, but I like the inverse colors. I would not want monochromatic bouquets like these though.

I think the purples in the bouquets are too light here, and I'd like less green in the bouquets.

Oodles of Orchids

Purple

So as Jessica and I waited outside of AA for our 10 appt, we got to discussion the overall asthetics (or lack thereof) of the wedding. Other than knowing I want orchids and color, I really don't know what kind of feeling I want at the wedding...

After perusing several websites, magazines, inspiration pages, etc. I think I like purple. So let's put pool and peach aside... and talk purples and white. I like the darker purples for dress colors, maybe the lighter purples/lilac with white for the bouquets to keep it from getting too dark. And I can still do my orchids. There are some really pretty purple orchids and some white orchids with purple in the middle too!
